SKITZERLANDĀ®: Programme to support young athletes

This page has been translated by AI; the French version is the original reference.

Supporting the next generation of snow sports athletes

SKITZERLAND® is actively committed to supporting the next generation of snow sports athletes by accompanying young, passionate athletes. The aim is to give them the means to progress, structure their sporting pathway, and fully develop their potential.

Tailored support for young athletes

The programme is aimed at young Swiss female and male athletes aged 14 to 18, involved in a recognised sporting structure and with a clear sporting project.
Depending on their profile, level and needs, beneficiaries may receive financial support to help cover part of the costs related to their pathway: competitions, training camps, travel, coaching, or equipment.

Much more than financial support

Joining SKITZERLAND® means becoming part of a committed community centred around the mountains and the next generation of athletes.
The association encourages exchanges between athletes, ambassadors and committee members to create opportunities for sharing experience and learning. Online meetings are organised on topics useful for athletes and their parents: sporting progression, career management, personal balance, and long-term vision.

An approach that supports and encourages progression

Beyond sporting results, SKITZERLAND® values motivation, commitment and progression. The programme supports young athletes who are engaged in a serious and long-term development pathway.

Each year, applications are reassessed, allowing both new talents and previous beneficiaries to present their progress and objectives.

Athletes who stand out through their journey, results and commitment may also be invited to join the SKITZERLAND® Ambassadors and benefit from enhanced support.

Submit your application

Each year, young male and female athletes may submit their application and present their project. A structured process is in place to identify athletes whose project and values align with the vision of SKITZERLAND®.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Practice a snow sport
  • Be aged between 14 and 18 at the time of application
  • Be of Swiss nationality
  • Be selected at least within a recognised cantonal structure
  • Present a clear sporting project justifying the need for support (existing support, competitions, training, sporting progression, coaching, equipment and travel)

Beneficiaries of the programme commit to representing SKITZERLAND® positively and contributing to its visibility in accordance with the terms defined in the regulations.

F.A.Q.

Is the athlete required to be of Swiss nationality?
Yes. SKITZERLAND® only supports Swiss athletes.
What age must the athlete be?
Ideally between 14 and 18 years old.
However, as the application deadline is at the end of August, an athlete born at the end of 2012 may also submit an application.
Does the athlete need to have a social media account?
No, not necessarily. Proven financial need, combined with results and development potential, are the basis for decision-making.
Some platforms are also regulated or in the process of being regulated for young people, so it does not make sense to make this a selection criterion. Private digital life should also be separated from an athlete’s digital presence, and this is something that is learned and built over time. However, it becomes a more important criterion when discussing a potential ambassador role.
Who are the people who will analyse the applications?
The Steering Committee is the body responsible for making decisions, led by our Head of Youth Support Projects and our Vice-President. No external parties will have access to the information submitted in the application file.
